Forrest Gump
Another cult film that you can find on our site is Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 Forrest Gump.
This is an incredibly touching, life-affirming and, at the same time, very realistic story about a man who did not doubt himself, but did what he liked. The inner essence is very well shown here. Success and recognition come only to those who are whole: thoughts do not run counter to words, but words do not run counter to deeds. This is a story about how simplicity discourages and destroys stereotypes of thinking. Everything goes in a circle: it starts with a pen – it ends with a pen.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
The next must-see film is The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus by Terry Gilliam. It’s a great film with an outstanding cast. In general, British cinema has always been original. Even in dramatic works, subtle humour was traced with a touch of decadence and aristocracy. This picture is no exception.
Foremost, it is worth noting the satire on the very duality of the universe. The representations of the devil are black, and the good is white. The narrative carries the idea that exactly what happens to a person is what he really wants. That is, what he is – that he gets. The essence of the picture is the eternal dispute between Dr. Parnassus, who invites visitors to the show to look into the looking glass of his soul, and the devil, who casts doubt on all statements and established dogmas. The picture tells that evil in the mind of a person is not even his actions, but, in fact, the responsibility that he must bear for them. Good is deliverance from the burden of retribution. But the truth and strength are comprehended by the one who did the deed and did not abandon his duty. Then both light and darkness fade into the background and the real path opens.
Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door
Let’s start with Thomas Yan’s 1997 German comedy drama Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door. The slogan for this film goes something like this:
“Mercedes, a million marks in the boot, and only one week to live.”
In short: the plot of the film revolves around two people who meet in a hospital room. They have fatal diagnoses. But fate throws up a chance to finally breathe deeply and feel the taste of real life. This story illustrates that there is always a way out, and it depends solely on a person how he will use it and, at the same time, completely turn his idea of existence. The most stupid thing is to be afraid of yourself. The main message of this story is the transformation and renewal that takes place. Death, on the other hand, is an entirely different reality of being. An incredibly strong, memorable and, at the same time, not straining picture with excellent actors.
In conclusion, we can wish you to watch a good film that makes you stop and think about our mission in this world! Sky will help you with this!
