What is the most important thing in clothing? Foremost, convenience, comfort, good cut, proper fit of the fabric and its composition. The structure of fibers is really crucial – the fabric has an impact on the skin. It determines how long the clothes will retain their original appearance, color, whether they will “shrink” when washed or stretch when worn. So, it’s important to choose producers that care about quality, e.g. Gant.

The most popular fabrics are natural: cotton, wool, linen and silk. This is followed by no less well-known fabrics, but already artificial ones, which have rightfully earned the recognition of manufacturers and consumers. These include viscose, polyester, spandex, elastane, lycra and polyamide. But we will not analyze artificial materials in this article.

What’re Natural Fabrics?

Products made from natural fibers are valued for being the most pleasant to the touch, breathable, allowing the skin to breathe. However, many natural fibers are very wrinkled, especially if it is, for example, 100% cotton or linen, they undergo shedding, as well as shrinkage in size. This is their main disadvantage. Therefore, they are washed manually or at a very low temperature separately. At the same time, they are not hung on the dryer, they are straightened on the surface so that they do not stretch or sit down. This applies to wool sweaters, which are soaked in shampoo and gently wipe off the dirt. For good, such things are dry-cleaned, where they undergo special processing. Gant offers clothes from various materials.

Cotton

Cotton includes the following types of fabrics: satin, batiste, chiffon, denim, gunny, flannel and twill. These fabrics are excellent breathable, so things from them are most popular in the summer, in the warm season. The most successful combination is things not made of 100% cotton, but with a small addition of synthetic fabrics. For example, 70% cotton and 30% polyester. Perhaps a combination of 80% to 20%. With this ratio, things look more noble, wrinkle and deform less.

Wool

Wool is an animal fiber. The most popular and valuable types of wool are: cashmere (a rather expensive material called “royal yarn”), alpaca (llama wool), angora (made from fluffy angora rabbits), merino wool, mohair (luxurious wool of angora goats).

Wool is an ideal material for the manufacture of yarn, fabrics, knitwear and felted materials you can see at Gant store. Woolen and knitwear are most popular in the cool season, they are valued for their excellent properties. They allow the skin to breathe, keep warm, do not wrinkle and do not lose their original appearance for a long time, they look quite impressive and noble.

Silk

Silk is one of the most expensive and spectacular materials. 1005th natural silk surpasses all other materials in its merits – despite the fine texture, silk is a very durable material, it is difficult to wrinkle, incredibly pleasant to the skin, cools it in the heat and allows you to breathe.

The only disadvantage of silk is its care. To keep your expensive silk items in good condition and presentable, take them to the dry cleaner as needed, do not wash and iron silk clothes at home.

Linen

Linen differs from other fibers in its density and strength. The advantages of linen are similar to cotton – it is breathable and wears well.

The most relevant linen clothing is business suits, trousers, straight or shapeless loose dresses and sundresses, tunics and various panamas.

A significant disadvantage of linen fiber products is that clothes are very wrinkled and poorly ironed. In this case, it is recommended to iron linen clothes when they are slightly damp. The best way to avoid these inconveniences is to choose linen clothing mixed with synthetic materials in a small amount. Then, it is perfectly ironed and does not wrinkle so quickly.

Of course, clothes made from natural eco-materials can be bought only at stores with pure reputation, like Gant.

Moreover, in our store there are suits, sweaters, dresses and so on from all of the above materials. Comfort of the body – clarity of mind!
